A new stage of Edgar Berlanga's career is set to begin on Saturday night when he faces Jason Quigley on Saturday night live on DAZN in his first fight under the Matchroom promotional banner.
There will be a lot of pressure on the shoulders of Berlanga who is not only fighting in front of a home crowd, but will also need to make a statement if he is to pursue the big matchups which he craves.
Berlanga's first 16 fights since turning professional in 2016 all ended by knockout, but since then, he has been having to rely on the judges' scorecards.
Now with a 20-0 record, many believe Berlanga needs to get the stoppage against Quigley in order to remind the boxing world he is a force to be reckoned with, anything less could be deemed a failure.
DAZN Boxing analyst Sergio Mora gave his opinion on these assumptions and while he doesn't see points win over Quigley as a failure, he believes it could highlight problems when it comes to Berlanga's ability.
"No it’s not a failure, but it’s possible red flag on Edgar Berlanga," Mora said on JABS.
"Those first round knockouts are good for you, but then you start fighting fighters who are actually winners, who are acustomed to going the distance, who aren’t intimidated by power, who aren’t intimidated by that home crowd.
"That’s what happened when Edgar Berlanga started fighting fighters like Coceres, Steve Rolls who’s been in there with Golovkin, guys that know how to survive, power doesn’t intimidate them.
"Those first 16 fighters who he knocked out in the first round, those were guys you were supposed to look good against and knockout. Especially if you’re a power-puncher like Berlanga, he’s a beast no doubt about it, Puerto Rican Mike Tyson.
"But now, just like Mike Tyson, when you’re fighting fighters who are accustomed to power, you’re going to need more than just that in your bag of tricks, you’re going to need the jab, you’re going to need body shots, ring general ship, know how to manage the clock."
