The compliments were not flowing when Darren Till and Anthony Taylor took the stage at the pre-fight press conference for MF & DAZN: X Series 20, which Till and Taylor will headline with their catchweight bout on Saturday, live worldwide on DAZN.
Former UFC fighter Till will make his professional boxing debut in the fight, but Taylor's relative wealth of experience in the boxing ring is not that impressive, according to the 32-year-old.
"He's f—ing s—t," Till said bluntly when asked about his opponent's boxing skills.
Never one to miss an opportunity to have his voice heard, Taylor agreed that while he may not be the most technical boxer, he has found success as of late.
"Hey, he's right," Taylor said. "I have a s—t style, but I always f—ing win."
While Taylor may have got caught up in a bit of hyperbole as he has four losses on his professional record, the 34-year-old continued goading his opponent by doing an exaggerated imitation of Till asking to be let back into the UFC after the fight.
Taylor then reiterated his ultimate goal beyond the Till encounter.
"Once I beat you, I'm going for Jake Paul next," Taylor said. Simple as that."
