Xander Zayas revealed who he thought would win out of a match-up featuring Miguel Cotto and Felix Trinidad.
The 20-year-old super welterweight is unbeaten in 14 fights, with 10 knockouts to his name as he builds a career to be reckoned as one of the future big names in the division.
At 5’10” he could fill out and move up a division or two, but his last action was at 147lbs, when he defeated Elias Espadas for the vacant WBO NABO Super Welterweight title in August.
Speaking to the DAZN Boxing Show about what his Puerto Rican identity means to him, he was asked about two legends from the territory, Cotto and Trinidad.
While reluctant to pick a favourite, he ultimately plumped for Cotto.
“Don’t put me on the spot like that!” he exclaimed, before alighting on an answer.
“It’s two different eras but I’ll have to go with my favourite fighter: Miguel Cotto.”
