The International Player Pathway has found another talent.

The Los Angeles Chargers got the better of city rivals Los Angeles Rams in their first preseason game of 2023 at SoFi Stadium on Saturday evening.

There were plenty of standout moments, Derius Davis' 82-yard punt return perhaps topping the best plays of the game.

But one play in particular was celebrated by everyone on the Chargers' touchline, as 21-year-old CJ Okoye sacked Rams quarterback Stetson Bennett in his first ever game.

Okoye was born in Nkwere, Nigeria, and was signed by the Chargers through the International Player Pathway after he attended NFL Africa Camp in 2022.

Okoye was identified at the camp by former NFL defensive end Osi Umenyiora, who was born in London with Nigerian parents.

Okoye will hope to become a regular starter in the NFL, following in the footsteps of the likes of Efe Obada, Jakob Johnson and Jordan Mailata who also came through the International Player Pathway program.

DAZN will deliver the NFL Game Pass International service from the 2023 season across the world (except the U.S. and China), find out more here.
