To no one's surprise, Canada and the United States will contest the women's hockey gold medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
The rivalry between the teams is unlike any other, with each side claiming major international honours over the past 30 years. Almost every time one team has topped a tournament, it was the result of a final victory over the other.
Canada enters the gold medal game as the most successful team in the history of women's hockey, but the Americans are right behind them in hardware won from past world championships and Olympics. The neck-and-neck nature of the rivalry is demonstrated by the fact that the Canadians head into Wednesday's contest the defending world champions (having defeated the U.S., naturally), while the Americans are looking to defend their gold medal won four years ago in Pyeongchang (won by defeating their northern neighbours).
More recently, the teams faced off in the preliminary round at Beijing 2022, with Group A supremacy on the line. It was the Canadians who claiimed victory that day last week, winning 4-2 to secure the easier route to the final.
Ultimately it didn't make a difference, as once again the teams will meet with hardware on the line.
Here's everything you need to know about the game, including puck drop time and how to watch.
