On Saturday night the UFC crowned a new middleweight champion as Dricus du Plessis defeated Sean Strickland at UFC 297.
The pair fought five full rounds of non-stop action before heading to the scorecards.
Now, as the new champion, Du Plessis will be thinking about his first title defense, which should come sometime later this year.
In the meantime, here are three people we think should be at the top of his list.
Israel Adesanya
No one really knows what's happening with Israel Adesanya right now. The last we heard he was "taking a break" from fighting.
But the length of that break is vague and undetermined. Despite the uncertainty, it's the fight the new champion wants and it's the right fight to make if it can be made.
But could Dana White be reluctant in letting Du Plessis call the shots considering he was allegedly offered the fight before Strickland last year and he turned it down. We'll have to wait and see what White thinks about the match-up after tonight.
Khamzat Chimaev
A lot of people thought Khamzat Chimaev would be the name du Plessis would call out.
After the fight Chimaev took to Twitter to call out the new champ saying, "Now it's my time".
Chimaev isn't exactly the next person in line according to rankings, but it's certainly an exciting fight that the fans seem to want. Chimaev even tweeted about UFC 300, leading many to wonder if there will be quick turnaround title defense for Du Plessis.
White said at the post-fight presser that he'd be announcing Du Plessis' next fight in about a week. Why the rush, if not for UFC 300?
Sean Strickland
A rematch with Sean Strickland could be interesting if not for the pre-fight build-up alone.
Imagine the verbal jabs they could toss around now. Not to mention, Dana White seemed to think Strickland won the fight.
That's even more of a reason for the UFC president to make a rematch happen.
