The PFL could really shine on Oct. 19.

On October 19 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Professional Fighters League will be hosting the Battle of the Giants a massive card with even bigger implications. The card is stacked with title fights, big MMA stars, and plenty of questions that will finally be answered.

1. Is the PFL talent able to swing with UFC talent?

The PFL (and Donn Davis) has been challenging the UFC to put their best versus the PFL's best for years. UFC president Dana White has yet to take a bite out of that offer but with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou fighting PFL 2023 heavyweight champion Renan Ferreira, this is the closest fans will see to that kind of match-up. If Ferreira can defeat Ngannou, it could be a big message to the UFC talent and to the level of talent the PFL possesses.

2. Could Larissa Pacheco secure her claim to WMMA icon status?

Larissa Pacheco has already earned her flowers under the PFL banner. She was the first (and to date only) woman to defeat Kayla Harrison in the MMA cage and she is the only PFL fighter, male or female, to hold titles in two different divisions. She's an icon in PFL but a win over one of the greatest female fighters ever could bump her up to MMA icon as well. Cris Cyborg has beaten the who's who of women's MMA and held titles in four of the biggest MMA organizations in the world. A win over her could mean a lot for Pacheco's legacy.

3. Is ring rust real?

Many pundits have wondered if Ngannou's lengthy layoff from MMA could be difficult to recover from. He hasn't fought in a cage since January 2022, when he defeated Ciryl Gane at UFC 270. That's almost three years way from MMA, which could be a big hurdle for Ngannou to face.
