Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka 1 took place on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, as the main event of UFC 295. The card was supposed to be headlined by a heavyweight title super fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic but Jones suffered an injury and the fight was called off.
The fight was for the vacant light heavyweight title after Jamahal Hill had to vacate the title due to a serious Achilles injury. He was coming off a win in his light heavyweight debut and fighting for the second UFC title of his career.
Prochazka was coming back to fight for the first time since his own injury which forced him to relinquish the light heavyweight title.
The first round was close but all three judges scored it for the former champion, Prochazka. In the second round, it was all Pereira. He scored the TKO just one minute into the second round, though some felt it might have been an early stoppage.
They will fight again on Saturday, this time with Pereira as the champion and Prochazka is the challenger.
