Aaron Aby provides update on rematch with Oktagon flyweight champion Elias GarciaOktagon
The first fight ended in controversial circumstances.

Flyweight contender Aaron Aby is unsure as to whether he will get a rematch against the Oktagon flyweight champion Elias Garcia.

The pair met for the vacant flyweight title at Oktagon 48 last year in Manchester and while Aby made a strong start, a high knee from Garcia had inflicted a deep cut.

This did not stop Aby from continuing to exert pressure despite the endless bleeding, but once the second round came to an end, the cageside doctor gave orders to stop the fight and Garcia was awarded the belt.

Whenever a title fight ends in underwhelming circumstances, more often than not a rematch follows, but according to Aby, there is no interest from Garcia's camp to fight for a second time.

"I agreed to fight Elias on November 13, which was a week after Manchester, but he needed another week to make up his mind," Aby told Oktagon

"A week went by and we didn't hear anything, so my team and I pushed for a response. He needed another week to decide, but we still didn't hear anything at the end of the time window either.

"I've not been putting anything on my socials during this time, because I didn't know what was going on with him just in case he was going through something. But he then needed another week to decide.

"Oktagon wanted the fight, we wanted the fight and I'm starting to spend money on my camp.

"But I thought he was being unprofessional to not say anything.

"That was the disrespectful part, just from a human aspect, it's almost a Sunday League mindset from him and his team."

While a second shot at a title is not in Aby's immediate plans, he will return to the cage on January 27 at OKTAGON 52 where he takes on Christopher Daniel in Newcastle.
