Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz 3 is one of the biggest fights the UFC could host when it comes to McGregor but the fight hasn't been seriously considered in years. But McGregor's coach John Kavanagh thinks the fight could be closer than some fans think.
“We had a win and a loss," Kavanagh told Lucky Block. "There was always kind of flirting with the idea of a trilogy and it never quite came to be. I actually thought that maybe the [Michael] Chandler fight would happen and then the Diaz trilogy would be completed, but I don't think Nate is in the UFC anymore so I'm not sure how plausible that is. But if we're just talking hypothetically and we're talking about a wishlist, it'd be to do that one a third time. Nate is a great fighter. I think the two of them just match up really well and it's 1-1 so you kind of need to have the decider.”
The first time the pair fought was at UFC 196 in 2016 where McGregor suffered the first loss of his UFC career. They rematched at UFC 202 later that year but the fight was much more close and widely contested even to this day. McGregor got the nod via a majority decision. Since then, both fighters have voiced their desire to fight a third time.
