Conor McGregor isn't overlooking Donald Cerrone for their Jan. 18 fight at all, but "Notorious" has a list of opponents that he has an interest in fighting in 2020 and beyond.
During an interview with TheMacLife, McGregor named everyone from Jorge Masvidal to Kamaru Usman, Colby Covington and Justin Gaethje as fighters that have sparked his intrigue for a possible bout. However, he saved his most venomous comments for his most bitter rival — Khabib Nurmagomedov, who defeated McGregor in his last bout back in October 2018.
"He is trembling, that man is trembling ... he doesn't want it," McGregor says in the clip.
"I just smell s—t, that's all it is. He's afraid and that's it, but everyone wants it," he continued. "The boss wants it, Dana (White) wants it, we all want it. So, he can run but he cannot hide."
Boosting his own confidence, McGregor said that he won the first round in the Khabib fight, dropped the second, claimed the third and was winning the opening exchanges in the fourth until he tripped and eventually tapped out to a neck crank submission that same frame.
"And that was after a horrendous camp where I was so disrespectful to the people that believe in me, disrespectful to my team with my lack of commitment and I still went down doing that," McGregor said.
"And I then I also landed the final blow on the night on his blood brother and cousin, so we're happy with it," he added, referring to the sequence that sparked a wild brawl between the fighters' camps at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
While it's clear that Khabib has piqued McGregor the most, the Irish fighter also had some stinging words for Gaethje and Masvidal.
McGregor said he wasn't impressed with Masvidal's handling of Nate Diaz in their BMF title match in November, saying that fight fans were "robbed" of the bout with what he thought was an early stoppage from the ref.
Toward Gaethje, McGregor said he just might fight him next after dealing with Cerrone in two weeks.
"Maybe I'll face him next," McGregor said. "He has it coming to him.
"Maybe I'll get through Donald," he added moments later, "and have a quick turnaround against Justin."
From the sound of it, "Notorious" is back. Now, it's about the 31-year-old winning his first bout since November 2016.
