Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler: Carl Froch gives his prediction and warns McGregor

Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler: Carl Froch gives his prediction and warns McGregorDAZN
The former world champion had his say.

Former world champion Carl Froch believes that Conor McGregor will betray his intentions ahead of a Michael Chandler fight - if he fights up the weight classes.

McGregor last fought at welterweight, and his most recent bout was his third fight with Dustin Poirier in 2021, in which he suffered a serious leg injury with a broken tibia.

That represents back-to-back defeats for the Irishman and after three years away from the octagon, he is linked with fighting with Chandler for the UFC 300 centenary event.

Speaking to Lord Ping, Froch suggested that if McGregor moves up the weight classes it might indicate he is not fully committed to training for the fight.

He explained: “Conor McGregor won't be taking the fight that seriously if he fights at the higher weight class.

“It's indication to me that he won't be taking Chandler seriously in training and when you don't prepare properly, he could end up getting hurt.

“The mindset is not going to be right and he's going to be unprepared and it could be really dangerous if he's not training - he's going to get beat up and knocked out or tapped out.”
