Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler: Tom Aspinall examines UFC mega fight

Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler: Tom Aspinall examines UFC mega fightDAZN
The two experienced fighters could meet at UFC 300.

Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler is slated for UFC 300 after the Irishman entered the drug-testing pool once more.

However, there are question marks over McGregor given few are unsure what division he plans to fight in, and his fitness will be a doubt after being out so long with a fractured leg incurred in his trilogy rematch defeat against Dustin Poirier.

Indeed, for some time few expected him to get back into the Octagon and he might make inroads as a crossover fighter as the format continues to grow, given his experience fighting Floyd Mayweather in the past and prominent social media presence.

Speaking to Casino Canada, British UFC heavyweight Tom Aspinall shared similar doubts, but is nevertheless a fan.

He said: “People will always tune into his fights; I know I am and I will always tune in. I don’t know where his mind is at, his body is at or even where his ambition is at, but he can definitely always offer the UFC entertainment.

“Someone like me will always tune into his fights. I’ve always been a Conor McGregor fan; I like what he’s all about.”

Discussing the McGregor vs. Chandler match up, Aspinall found it hard to identify a clear favourite.

He explained: “Michael Chandler has a wild style. He’s (got a mentality to) knock them out or get knocked out and that’s a very dangerous game against someone like Conor McGregor with his power.

“Where McGregor’s body or mind is at, I don’t know but if he goes into the fight motivated, he can definitely win the fight.”
