The UFC is set to host the first pay-per-view event of the year in Los Angeles on Saturday but the venue availability has been up in the air now that much of LA is engulfed in flames from several wild fires. At press time ,16 people had already died in the fires and thousands of homes have been destroyed.
The Los Angeles Rams moved their NFC playoff game versus the Minnesota Vikings to Arizona due to the fires and they play at SoFi Stadium which is directly across the street from Intuit Dome, where UFC 311 is scheduled.
On Sunday, UFC president Dana White gave an update on their decision to hold the event, despite the fires.
“Well, if the fire gets bad, we are coming to Vegas… Yeah, we’ll move it to Vegas. If it gets too bad. But as of now? It’s all go. The NBA is gonna go this week. We are gonna go.”
In a statement to MMA reporter Chisanga Malata, the California State Athletic Commission has also said no decision about moving the event had been made. We'll keep you updated if plans change.
