For the third and final time, Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier are set to fight for the heavyweight title.
UFC president Dana White announced Tuesday on ESPN's "First Take" that the fight will take place on Aug. 15, almost exactly one year after Miocic beat Cormier by TKO on Aug. 17, 2019. Miocic suffered a torn retina in the fight and hasn't fought since.
Cormier, who also hasn't fought since their rematch in 2019, knocked out Miocic in the first round of their first fight in 2018.
The heavily anticipated fight is expected to be the last fight of the 41-year-old Cormier's career after he said he will retire from the UFC after his third bout with Miocic. The third and final fight raises the stakes and leaves the winner with more ammunition to lay claim as the best heavyweight fighter of the era.
The fight is expected to take place in the United States, but a location has not been determined. Miocic vs Cormier 3 will be the main event of UFC 252 in August with more fights still to be announced.
