ONE Championship holds quite arguably their biggest fight card to date on Wednesday from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. The main event features Adriano Moraes defending his flyweight championship against former UFC flyweight titlist Demetrious Johnson. The co-main event is former UFC and Bellator lightweight titleholder Eddie Alvarez facing off with Iuri Lapicus.
Moraes and Johnson were set to battle for the gold in April 2020, but COVID-19 prevented the bout from happening.
Moraes, a two-time ONE 135-pound champion, regained the belt by defeating Geje Eustaquio via unanimous decision in January 2019.
Johnson is viewed as the consensus greatest flyweight of all time and one of the best ever to lace up the four-ounce gloves. After getting traded to ONE in 2018, Johnson's reeled off three straight wins in his new promotion, highlighted by beating Danny Kingad to win the ONE flyweight grand prix in October 2019.
"I'll be the first one in the cage," Johnson told DAZN News. "I got my feet touching that canvas. It's been a year and a half since my feet tested the canvas, taking the smell and just taking the vibe. Then once the ref says, 'Let's get it', I'm going to try to get that belt."
A win for Johnson will be his second flyweight title in two different organizations.
