Discussions between PFL and Francis Ngannou 'are still ongoing', reports sayDAZN

Ray Sefo confirmed PFL's ongoing pursuit of Francis Ngannou on Wednesday, according to reports.

The PFL president met with reporters and addressed talks with the free agent MMA star, who last fought at UFC 270 in Jan. 2022. Ngannou was the UFC heavyweight champion at the time of his departure from that company and has since explored the possibility of crossing over into boxing, with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury a possible opponent.

Sefo acknowledged Ngannou's boxing aspirations while also suggesting that it wouldn't be an obstacle for the 36-year-old to potentially join the PFL.

“That is correct, we’ve had a few meetings with Francis and those discussions are still going on,” Sefo told reporters on Wednesday.

“Obviously, there’s a few other things he also wants to pursue which is boxing and he knows where we stand with it too so, you know, it’s all positive should I say, right?”

Sefo added that while his own preference is to have Ngannou participate in the upcoming PFL season, he's willing to work with the fighter to find a way to get him into the organization.

“To be quite honest, I would love to have him in the [PFL] season,” he said.

“But again, it’s no surprise he’s a pay-per-view kind of guy, and so I think that’s kind of up to him where we go with that. But listen, if he decides that he wants to be in the season, I’d love to have him in the season.”
