If there was any doubt about whether Michael "Venom" Page's style would translate successfully into the Octagon, MVP began to put it to bed Saturday night.
In his UFC debut at UFC 299, Page produced a unanimous decision victory over Kevin Holland, using his sniping striking skills and showmanship to dazzle over three rounds. Judges across the board saw it 29-28 in his favour.
Page, who spent the bulk of his MMA career at Bellator, dipped into his bag of tricks against Holland by hitting him with everything from overhand rights, which repeatedly dropped the American, to several spinning back elbows and even a Superman punch.
The 36-year-old Page told Joe Rogan that he needs to continue to work on his fighting game, but for starters, the electric striker has recorded a splashy first UFC outing to perhaps put the welterweight division on notice of his arrival.
Those tuning into Page's performance were impressed.
