UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev is one of the top fighters in the UFC right now, he's currently the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter on the UFC's roster. His coach Javier Mendez recently spoke to Fastest Payout Online Casino about who he'd like to see his pupil fight next.
Mendez wants to see Makhachev fight Conor McGregor, the former rival of Khabib Nurmagomedov.
"I love Islam vs Conor McGregor, who wouldn't want to be involved in a fight that would have an electrifying atmosphere?" Mendez said.
"That is a great fight for us and for the fans. One of the greatest feelings I had in my whole entire life was when Khabib and Conor fought because of the real hatred between both sides."
He continued, "Conor would not be an easy nice work for Islam because you have to respect the man, he's got a lot of experience and the only way you make it an easy night is because you train hard - but it will never be an easy night with a guy like Conor, you better train your butt off because he's a real fighter and if he's going come in prepared, it's never going to be easy."
McGregor was set to face Michael Chandler next, but while the fight has been in motion for more than two years, it still hasn't taken place. But Mendez says Chandler should keep waiting and that's what he'd advise him if he was his athlete.
"If I was in charge of Michael Chandler's corner, and I felt that Conor McGregor was still legitimately interested in fighting, I would advise Michael to hang in there - that's a major, major fight, hang in there 100 percent," he said.
"I would hang in there for the big payday. Michael Chandler has absolutely nothing to prove to anybody, make your money buddy. You're not going to make this kind of money fighting anyone else - you could fight three or four guys and you won't make this kind of money - so why put your body through all of it if you honestly feel that Conor will get into the Octagon with you?"
