UFC 261 features three championship fights with the rematch between welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and BMF titlist Jorge Masvidal at the top of the marquee. But we also seen a fourth main event outside of the Octagon.
Between the end of the prelims and the beginning of the main card, social media superstar Jake Paul and former UFC two-division champion Daniel Cormier nearly got into a altercation in the stands.
Between the end of the prelims and the beginning of the main card, social media superstar Jake Paul and former UFC two-division champion Daniel Cormier nearly got into a altercation in the stands.
Paul entered the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla. when the final preliminary bout with Randy Brown and Alex Oliveira was underway. The crowd booed loudly at the sight of him taking his seat. Cormier, who is part of the commentary team, heard the chants and let his feelings known about Paul being at UFC 261.
"I just saw Jake Paul. I pointed at him and said, 'Don't play with me,'" Cormier said during the fight. "Because I'll smack him in the face."
The animosity between the two started after Paul knocked out former UFC star Ben Askren last Saturday. The two got into it on social media after the fight, ending with Paul saying he could beat Cormier.
