The boxing and MMA world seems to be sharing more and more fight nights, and that continues on March 8 live on DAZN PPV when Anthony Joshua takes on former UFC star Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia.
There have been previous occasions where MMA fighters lacing up the gloves has not gone to plan, most notably Conor McGregor who was stopped by Floyd Mayweather in 2017.
Ngannou is a different case however with boxing playing a vital role in his rise to becoming one of the biggest names in combat sports. This did not stop him being written off by many fans when he made his professional boxing debut in October against WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
The contest ended in a split decision going in Fury's favour, but Ngannou showed that an MMA fighter could share the ring with arguably the world's number one heavyweight and even knocked Fury down in the third round.
While MMA fighters crossing over to boxing is becoming a commonplace, it is very rare to see boxers stepping inside the cage.
In an interview with DAZN, PFL star Kane Mousah believes two boxers, who are currently amongst the upper echelons of the pound-for-pound rankings, could give a good account of themselves if they decided to pursue a career in MMA.
"I’ve always wanted to see someone like Gervonta Davis fight in the cage," Mousah said.
"I think he’s like a gritty type of fighter, and he’s short so he might be able to stop takedowns.
"I’d like to see Terence Crawford as well because he’s a wrestler."
Mousah is set to feature in the first PFL Europe of 2024 on March 7 in Paris, and he is set to face the unbeaten Jakub Kaszuba for a place in the lightweight tournament semi-finals, and this fight along with the rest of the PFL Europe card will be broadcast in a number of regions live on DAZN.
