UFC 310 is jam-packed with talent, including a title fight and a co-main with title implications. But it's a fight that wasn't even supposed to happen that has everyone talking.
The fighter to watch at UFC 310 is short-notice fill-in, Themba Gorimbo, who looks to prove he was the man for the job all along.
Gorimbo asked for a chance to be the backup fighter for the Vicente Luque vs. Nick Diaz fight, which had already been postponed once before. UFC president Dana White laughed off the callout and first but said "sure" for Gorimbo. It turned out to go Gorimbo's way after Diaz was pulled from the card for an undisclosed reason.
That means there's extra pressure on Gorimbo to deliver a performance worthy of the call-out against the biggest competition he's ever seen.
He's coming off a decision win against Niko Price in October and a decision in May versus Ramiz Brahimaj. He'll want to not only defeat Luque, but earn a highlight win if he wants to prove taking a chance with him was the right decision.
UFC 310 takes place on Saturday, Dec. 7.
