The UFC hosted a rematch between two ranked middleweights at UFC Vegas 90. No. 6 ranked Brendan Allen went into the Octagon with No. 14 ranked Chris Curtis following their 2021 bout looking for revenge. The pair when the full five founds in an absolute back-and-forth war. MMA Twitter and the commentary were split about who won the fight and so were the judges. One of the three judges awarded the fight to Curtis while the other two gave it to Allen.
After the win, Allen called for a title shot.
In the first fight, Curtis defeated Allen via a second-round TKO. But since then Allen has been on a roll rising high above Curtis in the rankings. In the end, Allen was able to exact his revenge and hung on to his ranking.
