Joji Goto secured a brilliant victory with an innovative submission against Trent Girdham on Saturday night at RIZIN 43.
The MMA and kickboxing event came live from the Makomanai Ice Arena in Sapporo, Japan, and was headlined by the featherweight clash between Kleber Koike and Chihiro Suzuki.
On the line was the chance for Suzuki only to win the vacant Rizin Featherweight championship,
Koiki won by an armbar, but did not take home the belt after coming in overweight.
But perhaps the most impressive display of the night came from Goto, with the 27-year-old wrapped around his opponent in the corner.
While Girdham attempted to wriggle free, the Japanese fighter was able to wrestle Girdham into a spine lock submission that had the referee acting swiftly to prevent any further serious harm.
