Bellator lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov believes Paul Hughes needs to put together a strong run of performances before a possible rematch.
The pair clashed in Dubai on Saturday night in a contest which many have claimed is already a Fight of the Year contender.
Nurmagomedov came out on top by unanimous decision, but he did admit that he underestimated Hughes after successfully retaining his title.
Following the final bell, there were calls for an immediate rematch, and speaking to talkSPORT, Nurmagomedov revealed whether he would be interested in facing Hughes for a second time.
"I don't like the rematch, I need some new names," Nurmagomedov said.
"For Paul, I wish the best for him, but he needs some more fights.
"He only had two in the division and they give him a gift, for a second fight he would have to deserve it, like a three, four or five-fight win streak, then we'll see."
Nurmagomedov's win was the third successful defence of his title and extended his record to 19-0-0.
