A pair of bantamweights looking to bounce back into the win column headline UFC Fight Night, as Pedro Munhoz takes on Frankie Edgar on Saturday, Aug. 22. The bout will be held at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, where the company just had its blockbuster UFC 252 pay-per-view event last weekend.
Munhoz is coming off a tough unanimous decision loss to Aljamain Sterling last June. Prior to that, he had built a three-fight winning streak, highlighted by a first-round KO (punches) of Cody Garbrandt in March.
Now, he's ready to pass the test against a battle-tested veteran in Edgar.
"Fighting a former champ, definitely carries extra weight," Munhoz said about Edgar in a recent UFC Destined segment.
He added: "It's a big fight."
The 38-year-old Edgar has lost three of his last four bouts, including a first-round TKO (punches) against Chan Sung Jung in December and a unanimous decision defeat to Max Holloway last July. Yet, his love for MMA keeps him going in the Octagon.
"I kind of have a rule, as long as I'm competitive, I'm having fun and my body holds up," Edgar said, I'll do this as long as I can."
Both fighters made weight Friday.
