The Spanish driver finished in 13th position in the United States GP, despite setting the eighth best time in qualifying.

Fernando Alonso has refused to blame the Aston Martin team's car modifications that saw him finish in 13th place at the American Grand Prix.

Aston Martin introduced seven improvements for the race, but they still did not help to score points in Austin. Thus, Fernando Alonso continues in ninth place in the standings with 62 points. The Spanish start could only manage a 13th place finish, despite achieving the eighth fastest time in qualifying.

The team will continue trying to improve the car's performance, with five races left to finish the 2024 F1 World Championship. Especially with a view to next year, with the incorporation of Adrian Newey.

However, they failed to score any points in the US and speaking to DAZN, Alonso reflected on the race.

"I started well until turn 1, then I got a little stuck off the track. I lost some position there and also in the fast corners of the first lap."F1

"We know that it didn't matter what start we made or what position we were in on lap one. Over 57 laps, in the end you end up in your natural position," explained Alonso.

"We anticipated it, it is not a surprise, the time trial is the surprise. Starting eighth was not normal. We are left with that and with the lessons of the race. "We were slow in the Sprint, we were slow today, so a lot to analyze and improve for Mexico.

"We tell the team what the car lacks and then the team does what it can. It's not that they want not to improve performance. We have encountered an obstacle for much of the season and many times we learn positive lessons, sometimes negative ones. of what we should not do."

With five races left to of the current season, the aim for Aston Martin will be getting a better performance of the car, with Alonson adding he'll be "Analyzing the new package and how the weekend went, we will try to improve for Mexico."

However, someone who did manage to score a point was rookie driver Franco Colapinto. The 21-year-old was sponosred by Alonso in Formula 4, now, the Williams member competes against him, accumulating five points in his first races in Formula 1.

There is a friendly relationship between both drivers that could be seen at the end of the United States GP, with Alonso's adding. ""Today there was no fight, it was a second faster than us. The Williams is the new McLaren of the middle zone," he said with a laugh.
