Will Power claimed his fortieth win at the Big Machine Spiked Coolers Grand Prix in the NTT IndyCar series.
The win - his fifth at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway course - came after two late restarts from rivals Romain Grosjean and Colton Herta. Grosjean took second place, and Herta claimed the final podium place.
Patricio O’Ward had started well, but Australian competitor Power started to come into contention when he switched to reds on lap 13, with O’Ward swapping out to blacks three laps later. Power closed in on the leader and took the lead on lap 20.
With another pitstop on lap 37, Power was able to come back onto the track with his lead intact, of seven seconds. He had the lead again at lap 71, stretching away from the chasing pack for victory for Team Penske.
