Harry Kane recently received his 100th cap for the England national team.

England captain Harry Kane reached a significant career milestone on Tuesday night against Finland.

This appearance at Wembley Stadium was Kane's 100th cap for the Three Lions, and ahead of the game, he was presented with a special gold cap by Frank Lampard to commemorate the occasion.

Kane then went on to make an impact in the game, scoring both goals in a 2-0 win which ensured a perfect start to the team's UEFA Nations League campaign.

Currently ninth on the all-time England men's appearance list, Kane will have his sights on moving further up and push towards former goalkeeper Peter Shilton's 125 cap record.

One England legend who is backing Kane to achieve this feat is Alan Shearer who made 63 appearances for the national team and scored 30 goals.

"Harry Kane is a phenomenal footballer and an incredible goalscorer. I know that feeling that he has, and I know that his thirst, desire, and hunger to get out and score goals is still there," Shearer told Betfair.

"There were question marks against him at the Euros, and he said himself that he didn't perform the way he wanted, and I don’t think he was the only one, so when people are asking questions, you as an individual have the opportunity to put that right.

"What better way to do that than to score goals like he has done for the vast majority of his career and to do so again on his 100th cap.

"He's England's greatest goalscorer and it wouldn't surprise me if he went on and became the record appearance holder and broke Peter Shilton's record too.

"Yes, he'll have to stay around for another couple of years to do that but when he's performing, and, when he's got pace in and around him like England have had in the last two games, then he's an incredible player to have and he'll continue to score goals."

England return to action next month in the UEFA Nations League with matches against Greece at Wembley and Finland in Helsinki.
