The winger has been criticised for his actions.

Manchester United winger Antony has taken to social media to respond to the backlash he has faced for his celebrations against Coventry.

In a thrilling FA Cup semi-final, Coventry came from 3-0 down to force extra time, but after 30 goalless minutes were beaten 4-2 in a penalty shootout against Erik Ten Hag's men.

As the winning penalty was scored, Antony turned to face the Coventry players on the half-way line while cupping his ears in their direction.

Earlier on Tuesday, Ten Hag said Antony "should not react" in the manner he did, but added that his player had been provoked.

Now, Antony has taken to X to give his side of the story, also claiming that the Coventry players were not blameless.

"Coventry proved why they reached the semi-final," posted Antony. "We seeked this spot in the final for our fans and we achieved.

"The way our fans were treated by their player was not nice and I, in the heat of the moment, I've reacted to the provocations in a natural defense of my club!"
