Argentina dominant in Finalissima win over Italy

Argentina looked in fine form on Wednesday, easily dispatching Italy 3-0 at Wembley Stadium in the "Finalissima."

The match, played between the Copa America and Euro title holders, is also known as the CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions, although only the Argentines looked to be on the required level on the day.

Lautaro Martínez and Ángel Di María each scored in the first half to put the game out of reach. The second half resembled a training exercise for the Albiceleste as they peppered Gianluigi Donnarumma with shots. The scoreline would've been more lopsided if not for the heroics of the Italian goalkeeper, who pulled out all the stops against a relentless Argentine attack that took nine shots on target.

Interestingly, Argentina's second-half dominance didn't translate into more goals until a stoppage-time marker by Paulo Dybala. Still, either way, the South American side was the better team on both sides of the ball.

The match marked the end of an era for Italy as 37-year-old Giorgio Chiellini made his final appearance for the Azzurri after an 18-year international career.
