David Seaman has hailed Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya after an impressive first season in North London.
Much was made of the Spanish stopper's arrival and his battle with Aaron Ramsdale for the Gunners number one shirt, but Raya has proved to be a huge sucess and won the Premier League's Golden Gloves award this season.
His 15th clean sheet against Bournemouth last time out means he'll win this campaign's award and the former Arsenal legend believes it's fully deserved.
“He’s had a great season. Especially as it's his first season at Arsenal,” Seaman said on his podcast Seaman Says, proudly sponsored by Parimatch.
“He's come in under all that pressure with Aaron Ramsdale and then the pressure added to that with playing for Arsenal and he did find it a little bit difficult to start with, but he's showing why Mikel Arteta keeps picking him.
“He's normally brilliant with his feet – that's his stronger point. He's also brilliant at claiming crosses and the defence is playing really well so it's all adding together.
“The other thing I've noticed about him is that he's really calm. You never, ever see him flustered. Even after making that mistake against Tottenham where the pass got cut out, he just put his hand up, took responsibility and then carried on and recovered brilliantly.”
