Arsenal and Manchester City are once again in the thick of the Premier League title race, and on Sunday they'll meet in London.

The Gunners came up short in their pursuit of the title last season as they watched the Sky Blues surpass them in the final weeks and claim the Premier League crown en route to a historic treble. Now both teams are again in a heated race in the early stages of the current campaign, although both trail Tottenham after Spurs defeated Luton Town on Saturday and jumped into first place.

While the clubs are becoming familiar foes for the top spot, neither side sees Sunday's match as absolutely crucial to their future aspirations.

“This will not define a lot,” City boss Pep Guardiola said. “It will be different when they come here at the Etihad [in March] - then it will depend on the situations we are in."

Guardiola's Arsenal counterpart, Mikel Arteta, agreed.

"No it would be a big boost obviously energy and confidence-wise but apart from that and the points, nothing else," Arteta said when asked if Sunday's match is a season-defining one.

Regardless of the two managers' insistence, this one could have big implications given Tottenham's rise and Liverpool's continuing threat to the leaders.
