Aston Villa and Manchester United are fifth and sixth in the Premier League standings, respectively, but the gap between them is 12 points ahead of their showdown at Villa Park on Sunday.
The Villans were part of the title race for much of the season and only find themselves eight points back of league-leading Liverpool, so maximising their returns on each match is of paramount importance as the club are also chasing Champions League football.
For Man United the aspirations are a little lower, but a good run could also see the Red Devils challenging for a Champions League spot. Defeating the likes of Villa will be imperative if they are to seriously make a run at a European spot, but manager Erik ten Hag knows that his side is in tough on Sunday.
"It's very good how [Villa boss Unai Emery] develops this team and it is very clear how they want to play in and out of possession," Ten Hag said. "I think the players know exactly what they have to do, their jobs, and how they have to contribute with each other.
"They are a really good team and they have weapons in their team. We have to play our maximum levels to get the result."
