Argentina v Saudi Arabia – Group C – 10:00 –November 22
July 3, 2019 was the last time that Argentina lost a game of football, a 2-0 defeat to Brazil in the quarter-finals of the Copa America. Since then, they've gone through the CONMEBOL Qualifying campaign for Qatar undefeated, and avenged that defeat by beating Brazil in the final of the 2021 edition of the Copa America.
Saudi Arabia only lost once during their own qualifying campaign but, on paper, this looks like a real mismatch. They played three friendlies against South American opposition this year and failed to score against any of them. They have also failed to score more than a single goal in their last 16 matches.
With the attacking prowess that Argentina have at their disposal, it feels like it could be a long 90 minutes for Saudi Arabia. Four years ago, they lost their opening match 5-0 to Russia, and a similar score line feels like a real possibility here.

Denmark v Tunisia – Group D – 13:00 –November 22
The Danes were semi-finalists during an emotional Euro 2020 where they suffered an extra-time defeat against England. They also narrowly missed out on being semi-finalists in the UEFA Nations League, despite winning both matches against current World Cup holders France.
Tunisia overcame Mali 1-0 on aggregate to qualify for their sixth World Cup, but they haven’t shown much in the way of form to suggest that they could be a threat to the other teams in Group D.
Since their World Cup qualification, they've failed to score against lowly ranked Botswana, and were beaten 5-1 by Brazil in their last friendly before the World Cup.
The FIFA rankings suggest a gulf in class between these two teams, and their recent performances suggest something similar too. The Danes have scored at least two goals in six of their last eight outings, all against decent European opposition. We believe they should have enough quality to repeat that feat here too.

Mexico v Poland – Group C – 16:00 – November 22
This match feels like it could determine who progresses from Group C alongside Argentina.
Both teams enter the World Cup with fairly indifferent form. Mexico have lost three of their five recent friendlies against Paraguay, Colombia and Sweden, all of whom missed out on qualifying for Qatar. Poland’s World Cup preparations saw them needing a late goal to overcome Chile 1-0.
Robert Lewandowski could be the difference in a match that looks far too close to call. The Polish striker is yet to score at a World Cup, but he's already found the net 18 times for Barcelona this season. We can see goals in this one and the 34-year-old looks great value to get the one goal that's eluded him.

France v Australia – Group D – 19:00 – November 22
Four years ago, France started their World Cup campaign with a 2-1 victory over Australia. A month later, they were lifting the famous trophy.
The two sides get their group stages up and running against each other once again in Al Wakrah, and once again, France will be aiming to get three early points on the board.
France haven’t played since ending their disappointing Nations League campaign, and depsite losing Benzema to injury, a squad containing the likes of Lloris, Varane and Griezmann should have too much for Australia, a team with zero wins in five games.
France have only kept two clean sheets from their last eight matches, and it wouldn’t surprise us to see the Socceroos scoring here, but ultimately, we would expect Les Bleus to come out on top.
