Cristiano Ronaldo has to accept a more limited role in order to succeed with Portugal, according to Dwight Yorke.
Ronaldo started and played the full match in each of Portugal's first two games at Euro 2024, but Yorke believes that if the 39-year-old is to remain on the field he'll have to limit the amount of running he does.
Speaking to Best Online Poker Sites about his fellow Manchester United alumnus, Yorke explained that Portugal manager Roberto Martinez needs to keep Ronaldo to a specific part of the pitch to get to the best out of him and the team.
"At the age of 39 years old, you naturally won't be as influential in a game as you once were," Yorke said.
"Cristiano Ronaldo has to accept this, he's always been number one, even though he's had a prolific season at his age, Roberto Martinez has to tell him to stay central and not come out wide like he used to do.
"Portugal have to get the ball into the penalty area, and if they can do that, the country can go far in the competition."
