Chelsea pulled off a thrilling 3-1 victory at Crystal Palace on Monday that had the scorer of the match-winning goal issuing an apology after the final whistle.
The match seemed destined to end as a draw as the score was level heading into stoppage time, but Conor Gallagher and Enzo Fernandez each found the back of the net in the game's dying moments to secure a much-needed three points for Chelsea.
Gallagher's goal was the match-winner and was his second of the night as he also scored Chelsea's first goal just after half-time. It was a successful return to Selhurst Park for Gallagher, who spent last season on loan to Palace.
"It was a tough win," Gallagher told Sky Sports. "We weren't good enough in the first half and we had to stick together to get the job done.
"We are buzzing with the three points."
Chelsea move into 10th place in the Premier League as the Blues still have much work ahead if they are to challenge for a European spot, but more finishes like Monday's could boost their hopes.
For Gallagher, scoring twice was bittersweet as he enjoyed his time at Selhurst Park last season.
"I do love them, that's the thing but you can't beat that feeling [of scoring a late winner]," he said. "I'm sorry Palace fans."
