Gareth Southgate's side are through to the quarter-finals.

Former Liverpool and Germany midfielder Didi Hamann says England are currently performing like a "collection of individuals rather than a team".

England required extra time to beat Slovakia in the last 16 of Euro 2024, and were less than 90 seconds away from elimination before Jude Bellingham's sensational over-head goal.

Gareth Southgate's side also managed just one win in the group stage of the tournament - against Serbia - and were held to a draw by Denmark and Slovenia.

Speaking to Gambling Zone, Hamann said Gareth Southgate's England have too many players wanting to be "top dog".

"When I watch England, I don’t see a team," said Hamann.

"If you look at Switzerland, the Spanish, there's people making runs to create space for the players - England aren’t doing that.

"The only player running is the man in possession. England lack options when they are in possession, not enough people show for the ball.

"I don't think the squad has a hierarchy where players know where they are and who's calling the shots.

"England have got too many big players who think they should be the top dog. They look like a collection of individuals rather than a team."

England take on Switzerland in the quarter-finals of the competition on Saturday, with the Netherlands or Turkey awaiting the winner in the last four.
