The wheels are falling off Manchester City's season at an alarming rate.
The team's 2-0 loss this past weekend to Liverpool was their seventh game without a win in all competitions, and with the Blues already 11 points behind league leaders Liverpool, the title race could already be over.
For manager Pep Guardiola, this is not the run of results he desired after signing a two-year contract extension with the club last month and it looks like the pressure could be getting to him.
Standing on the Anfield touchline, Liverpool fans chanted 'You're getting sacked in the morning!' to the 53-year-old, who responded by holding up six fingers representing the number of Premier League titles he has won with City.
While many saw the humorous side to Guardiola's actions, former Liverpool and City midfielder Dietmar Hamann claimed that it is a sign of insecurity.
"Pep Guardiola’s reaction to Liverpool fans shows insecurity. It’s so unusual to see him get so emotional like that and it reminded me of Jose Mourinho," Hamann told Genting Casino.
"Liverpool fans don’t mind taking stick but like to give some out too, but this is the first time in Pep’s tenure that he is really feeling the pressure and that’s because they have been winning so often since he first arrived at the club.
"The next few weeks will be interesting, the players will start questioning themselves and it all leads to self-doubt. When you are losing games you start to wonder if you are good enough.
"There are no easy games in the Premier League and at the moment they don’t have a player who can turn things around for them, things might carry on or they could go and win their next four games. That’s what makes it interesting."
City will be looking to end this dismal run of form on Wednesday night when they welcome Nottingham Forest to the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League.
