Tottenham already have two fresh faces.

Former Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov praised the club for a step-change in their recent transfer strategy.

For years, chairman Daniel Levy was notorious for waiting until the closing days and hours of the transfer window before reinforcing the club’s squad, and in one summer window under Mauricio Pochettino, they made no signings at all.

However this January, they have moved quickly to sign Radu Dragusin from Genoa, and also completed the loan signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, while Eric Dier has joined Bayern Munich to join former Spurs striker Harry Kane in Germany.

Tottenham play Manchester United this weekend as both teams look to continue their tilt at a top-four finish, with Ange Postecoglou’s men seen as favourites going by this season’s track record, at least.

Speaking to Betfair, Berbatov - who also had a spell at United - praised Tottenham for acting with urgency this month.

He said: “It feels like Spurs are very organised in this transfer window. I'm sure it was calculated and organised in a way that Ange wanted those two players and it's been done quickly.

“I'm judging it based on the business being done early in the transfer window. If that's a sign of things to come in transfer windows for Spurs then it'll be beneficial for the team.

“There is still time until the transfer window closes and it doesn't mean that they're not going to sign any more players, but at the moment, they're doing fine.”
