Dwight Yorke believes two of his former clubs will avoid relegation in the EFL Championship this season.

Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City, both of whom Yorke suited up for during his near-two decade long career, are near the bottom of the table in the Championship with just two matches remaining.

Blackburn are 19th but just three points above the relegation zone, while Birmingham are 22nd and would drop to League One if things stay the same at the end of the campaign.

Despite both clubs' current precarious positions, Yorke told TVSportGuide that he is confident they will both remain in the Championship.

"Birmingham City are on the knife edge of being relegated, but I think they will just about stay up by the skin of their teeth," York said. "[Aston] Villa fans won't be happy with me saying this, but I think it would be nice for Birmingham to at least stay in the Championship. Birmingham is a big city and it needs its clubs to be performing.

"Blackburn Rovers will be fine and stay up. They have really tailed off, but they looked really good at the start of the season. Now, they're around the midtable. They just lost to Sheffield Wednesday, which isn't a great result but I think they're a strong enough club to stay up."
