Erik ten Hag has been sacked as manager of Manchester United, ending a two-and-a-half-year tenure in charge at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman has been dismissed in the wake of the club's 2-1 loss to West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.
Assistant coach and former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will take interim charge of the team while the recruitment process is conducted for a successor.

During his time at the helm, former boss Ten Hag led the club to double cup success, winning the 2022-23 Carabao Cup and 2023-24 FA Cup.
But despite these successes, a difficult sophomore season that saw the club finish eighth in the Premier League saw him under increased scrutiny.
"We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future," the club confirmed in a statement.

Ten Hag was appointed as the full-time successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in April 2022, succeeding interim boss Ralf Rangnick at the helm.
He oversaw a promising first season at United, guiding them to a third-place finish and victory in the Carabao Cup Final over Newcastle United.
Hopes of a gold rush following a first competitive trophy in six years however appeared premature after a string of major injuries and poor results in late 2023.
A worst league finish since 1990 appeared to spell the end for Ten Hag, but unexpected success over rivals Manchester City in the 2024 FA Cup Final instead secured a new deal.
But, with just three wins from nine in the top-flight this term and United mired in 14th, the decision has been made to pull the trigger on his time at the club and bring it to a close.
