The Senegalese signed for the West London club last summer and, after a slow start, went on to score 17 goals in his first season at Stamford Bridge.
Despite his total, Chelsea have been linked with several new strikers to beef up their frontline ahead of the new season. However, Sutton told Best Online Poker Sites that Jackson is still improving and they should stick with the 23-year-old.
“I don’t think Nicolas Jackson is the most rounded striker, but I thought his numbers were pretty good last season,” he said.
“He’s young and he has age on his side, so I think he will develop. People forget he was brought into Chelsea as one to nurture – Christopher Nkunku was the big signing last year and he immediately became injured, so I actually think Jackson did alright. He can certainly improve his finishing but his numbers at the end of the season were pretty good.
“It’ll be interesting to see whether he’ll be the go-to number 9 for Chelsea this season, but all things considered, I thought he had a decent debut season last year for them. There are certain parts of his game with regards to his link up play and combination play which needs to improve, but there’s definitely enough there to work with for the time being.”
