Lee Sharpe knows what it’s like to enjoy success at Manchester United and he believes his former club missed out on a player who could've made a huge difference this past summer.
United are currently in the middle of a mini crisis with results at home and in Europe causing some unrest amongst supporters.
Before the season started, United were hopeful of challenging for the title and they made a number of big signings.
Mason Mount was one of the most notable acquisitions, but Sharpe believes United should've been in for James Maddison who ended up at Spurs.
“I think if we all had the gift of hindsight then we all would have said Maddison would have been a better signing,” said Sharpe when speaking to AGamble.com
“The way the two have started this season, Maddison looks a far better investment than Mount does at the moment. But we’ll see where Tottenham end up and how Mount gets on for the rest of the season and judge it at the end of the season.”
