Former Chelsea winger Florent Malouda picked his best three attacking players of the season so far.

Malouda was an impressive forward for both Lyon and Chelsea in his time, and he was speaking to Gambling Zone about the current campaign.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, he picked a player from both Manchester City and Liverpool, but he also plumped for a surprise name to round out the trio.

He said: “If I had to pick three players, I would go for the top scorer, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland at number one. He is still performing well even if he hasn’t hit the heights of his first season.

“He is a goal machine, who is finding life in the Premier League a little bit more difficult this year, but I expect him to reach his peak as we approach the business end of the season when titles are won.

“A player like Haaland could very easily be the difference between Manchester City retaining their title and finishing third.

"Mo Salah is my second choice. He is so consistent at the highest level and has such a big impact on this Liverpool team. You know he will always give you goals and assists.

“Then Ollie Watkins at Aston Villa. He has had a very impressive season for Villa this year. His performances are consistent, he has scored and created a lot of goals and he is one of the reasons why Aston Villa are having such a successful season.”
