The team are one of the favourites.

Alan Smith believes England have a chance of winning Euro 2024 this summer.

Gareth Southgate’s squad has arrived in Germany as one of the pre-tournament favourites, but they have not lifted a major trophy since the World Cup in 1966, but there have been some near misses - including the final defeat to Italy on penalties three years ago at Euro 2020.

With players such as Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane and Cole Palmer, there is no shortage of attacking talent, and former Arsenal and England striker Smith believes the players could potentially come good.

He told Gambling Zone: “I'm not saying that England are going to win it easily, but you'd hope that we could.

“We’ll need to find a shape – a bit of rhythm – which is always the key in tournaments.

“Find that rhythm as early as you can.

“Sometimes it can be a bit stuttery in the first couple of games, the first game particularly, but you would hope we can get a few goals and the lads can just feel their way into the tournament until the business end with the knockout stages.

“You can't take any team for granted, but you would hope that we can navigate that group and look forward with a bit of confidence.”
