Former Arsenal captain and Chelsea defender William Gallas believes that Thiago Silva has the “warrior mentality” while Noni Madueke is lacking in determination.
The youngster was seen smiling in the immediate aftermath of Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final exit at the hands of Manchester City, while veteran team-mate Silva looked to be distraught, with the semi-final extinguishing what is almost certainly his last chance to win some silverware before he leaves the club this summer.
Speaking to Lord Ping, Gallas explained why he was unimpressed by Madueke.
He said: “Thiago Silva has won everything! This was one of the few trophies he hasn’t won, and he wanted to win it. That is why he was so upset.
“Madueke hasn’t won many trophies in his career and he is smiling because of a joke with [Jack] Grealish.
“It shows the difference in mentality between Thiago Silva and Madueke – one has the warrior mentality and the other less so.”
