Enzo Maresca is ready for his first campaign in charge.

Chelsea will kick off their season under new manager Enzo Maresca when they take on champions Manchester City later this month.

After parting ways with Mauricio Potchettino at the end of the last campaign, it's difficult to predict what type of Chelsea team fans will see under the former Leicester boss.

Speaking exclusively to DAZN, thanks to Free Bets, former midfielder Gus Poyet discussed what he believes would be success for the London club ahead of the new season.

The Uruguayan says that although a Premier League title bid may be beyond the club, they should be looking to challenge for trophies.

He said: "If you asked me this question five years ago under Abramovich, I would say you're all about winning. Now, I think it would be interesting to see if, without obviously forgetting the Premier League, if they can put themselves in a situation where they can attack a trophy at any stage.

"It depends on your situation in the Premier League, where you are, and whether you plan to win it or not. But then, if you are in a good position in Europe or one of the cups, then you really need to attack it. Because I think it's very important for Chelsea fans and their feelings not to lose that habit of winning.

"That is one of the things that was on me after two years at Chelsea, it was like we must win something. At that time, it was not possible in the Premier League but we were winning trophies every year, which was very important. So, you cannot lose that.

"So, it's important to go on and be able to win it somehow, because if not, it could be an issue."
