The Blues have moved on from the Argentine.

Wayne Bridge isn't going to call Chelsea's decision to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino an error, but the retired former Blue isn't sure it was the right move.

Chelsea endured a rollercoaster season under Pochettino and they are set to welcome former Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca as the club's new head coach, but Bridge feels the London side may have been too hasty in moving on from the Argentine as there is a lot of blame to go around.

“It’s hard to say it’s an error, but I do believe the decision to sack Pochettino was harsh considering that he was turning it round a little bit towards the end of the season," Bridge told Betfred

"It’s a bit of a shambles at Chelsea with the amount of players they’ve got, the contracts they’re on and the inconsistency of everything. A lot of managers don’t get a lot of time and it seems like Chelsea chuck money down the drain a lot of the time. It’s not always about the manager, you’ve got to look at the players as well."

With Maresca set to officially take over next month, Bridge cautioned that a new boss isn't always the right answer and pointed to a recent hiring he feels was particularly underwhelming.

“I don’t think getting a new manager fixes a problem long-term," he said. "In the short-term, players may show a bit more effort, especially those that weren’t being selected often by the previous manager.

"It’s a new start for everyone really, but I believe it was still a bit harsh to sack Pochettino. A new manager coming in could also be disruptive for some players because you’re not aware of their philosophy, how they train players and everything changes effectively.

"It seems as if everybody wants a quick fix. Some of their managers too have been strange choices. Graham Potter was a strange choice in particular.”
