Aidan McGeady believes Liverpool are capable of winning this season’s Champions League.
Liverpool have failed to land the trophy since their win under Jurgen Klopp, in 2019, but the German had kept the side as one of the best teams in Europe for years, with the occasional blip.
The next manager through the door is Arne Slot, and while they have been quiet in the transfer market, former Everton man McGeady tipped Liverpool to show strongly on the continent once again.
'Speaking to BoyleSports , who offer the latest Premier League odds, McGeady said: “In the Champions League you can’t look past Real Madrid, but then I watched them play against Mallorca the other night and they drew while Mallorca actually looked like the better team in the second-half and could've won the game.
“The fear with me in terms of Real Madrid is it's almost turning into the Galacticos era again a little bit. How do you fit in all those players, those unbelievable players that they've signed in the forward areas?
“But they've got so much experience and Carlo Ancelotti has won everything so many times so I think you can't really see past Real Madrid.
“I don't think Barcelona will really be able to compete with Real Madrid. Manchester City might be the only ones, but then again you might have another upset.
“Liverpool could be contenders the way they have played so far under Arne Slot, so who knows what is going to happen.”
